Different Workshops for Different Grief

Workshops are a safe place in which unique concerns can be shared. These groups provide a way to meet others who are adjusting to a similar loss. The workshops and groups are directed by knowledgeable and caring professionals

Grief Education Series

The purpose of these groups is to teach participants about the grief process, to assist them in understanding the range of emotions which occur, and healthy ways to express and deal with the grief over the loss of a loved one. The group is recommended for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one within the past year. The first two weeks of the sessions are open. After the second week, the groups will be closed to new attendees. Participation is recommended for all six-week sessions.

All workshops are open to the community. It does not matter whether your loved one was a patient of Hospice of Medina County or Barberton Hospice & Palliative Care. Pre-registration is required due to limited seating.

Kid's Camp
The Kids/Teen Connection Camp is designed for children ages 6 to 13 who have experienced the recent death of a loved one. Kids will participate in a variety of activities including art and music therapy, games, and nature walks. Lunch and snacks are provided. The purposes of this special grief camp are: To provide a safe, non-threatening environment for children who have experienced a recent loss through death of a loved one. To normalize the grief process. To correct any misinformation about death, dying and grief. To help children understand they are not alone and to encourage the development of peer support. To provide opportunities for participants to express their feelings in constructive and healthy ways. To help children build new strategies for coping with grief which will help them in years to come. 


Suicide: A Time to Speak, A Time to Heal
Those who have lost a loved one to suicide can receive support, understand the grief process, begin to understand the "why" of suicide, and begin to find some answers during this seminar. The first two weeks of the sessions are open. After the second week, the groups will be closed to new attendees. Participation is recommended for all six-week sessions.



Scrapbooking Series
This unique, five-week support group provides participants with the opportunity to create a scrapbook of pictures, poems, and mementos of their loved ones with instruction provided. Grief support is provided by a Bereavement Specialist.  A nominal supply fee is required.



Floral Tribute
This one-evening workshop helps participants create a floral tribute are asked to bring a small item or photos that represent their loved one.  Containers, oasis, flowers, and embellishments are provided.  A minimal fee is charged to cover the costs of materials.




Journaling from the HeART
This six-week grief education series is designed to assist participants work through their grief utilizing journaling techniques and art therapy.  A nominal fee is charged to cover materials.





Getting Through the Holidays Workshop

The first holiday season after the death of a loved one can be extremely difficult - so can the second, third, or twentieth. The Robertson Bereavement Center provides support and special grief skills to help make this holiday and future holiday seasons joyful.pport. These are one-day workshops.            




Pet Loss Workshop

A pet is always there for you, always forgiving, always loyal, always believes in you even when you don’t believe in your self. Is it any wonder that the pain of this loss is great? Often pet loss is made more difficult because others do not appreciate how deep the attachment to a pet can be. In addition, pet loss can trigger past losses of our human friends. This is a one evening workshop.
